Gabriel Le Senne of Vox, who is the president (speaker) of the Balearic Parliament, has been accused of workplace harassment by a Vox employee.
Le Senne himself reported the complaint at a recent meeting of the party's provincial executive committee in the Balearics. The party has stated that this is an internal matter and that it will not be commenting on it.
It is as yet unclear whether the employee intends taking legal action. This is believed to depend on any decision made by the party nationally. And Vox HQ will be monitoring the situation closely, the party's leader, Santiago Abascal, having appointed Le Senne as president of the party in the Balearics.
The appointment was just the latest in a series of clashes that have characterised Vox over the past three years. Following the 2023 election, they didn't formally join the Balearic Government in coalition with the Partido Popular but struck an agreement for parliamentary support. Le Senne's appointment as speaker was part of that agreement, one that has been tested time and time again.
While Vox have fallen out with the PP, they have also fallen out with each other. Le Senne himself ousted Patricia de las Heras from the party presidency in the Balearics, she having been the only Vox member of parliament who had supported him when critics within the party tried to remove him.
Current relations among the members of the parliamentary group are not good; Le Senne and the party's spokesperson, Manuela Cañadas, have their disagreements. Voices within the party have questioned Le Senne's suitability as the candidate for Balearic president in 2027. However, he has the backing of the national leadership, which rules out the possibility of a change at this time.
Since 2023, three of the eight Vox members who took their seats in parliament have left the parliamentary party.
