A 70-year-old Dutch cyclist died Thursday morning after being struck by a car on the MA-3500 road near Llubí, located between Inca and Muro. According to a statement from the Servei d'Atenció Mèdica Urgent (Samu-061), emergency teams performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for 40 minutes but were unable to revive him.
The incident occurred at kilometre 2.5 on the MA-3500, where the foreign cyclist was cycling along the road when a vehicle hit him, leaving him on the carriageway. Witnesses at the scene initiated CPR until the arrival of medical personnel.
Units from the Local Police of Muro, Llubí and Inca, the Guardia Civil de Tráfico, as well as an Advanced Life Support (SVA) ambulance, a Basic Life Support (SVB) ambulance, and Delta and Lima vehicles, rushed to the location to assist the victim.
Despite sustained resuscitation efforts lasting around 40 minutes, the cyclist succumbed to severe injuries. The Guardia Civil de Tráfico has launched an investigation to establish the causes of the accident.
