A 37-year-old Romanian was arrested by the Guardia Civil on Monday, accused of having committed a wave of thefts at golf courses in Mallorca between 2024 and early 2025. The man, who posed as a golfer, stole luxury watches, cash, and credit cards. He faces charges of crimes against property, theft, robbery with violence, money laundering and belonging to a criminal organisation.

The Guardia Civil had been tracking him for some time, but as he would come to Mallorca and then leave, it was difficult to locate him.

Using the stolen credit cards, and before they were blocked, he transferred money to a Romanian bank account via a small card reader he carried. He is accused of money laundering for this reason.

He is believed to have acted with accomplices, who have not yet been apprehended, and to have been operating primarily at courses in Calvia, Andratx, and Llucmajor.

The investigation is ongoing, as the other members of the gang are considered to be highly active. He appeared in court in Palma late on Wednesday.
