A German tourist died on Thursday morning after falling around 15 metres in Valldemossa, in a mountain area of Mallorca. Emergency medical services were unable to save his life.
The incident took place at approximately 11:00 local time, according to emergency services sources. The man was reportedly hiking with several family members in a mountainous area when he fell from a significant height under circumstances that are still being investigated.
Emergency firefighters were called to the scene shortly after the alarm was raised. On arrival, they located the man and confirmed that he had died as a result of his injuries.
The operation required the deployment of specialist rescue teams due to the difficult terrain. Access to the area proved challenging for emergency responders working on the mountainside.
Local police in Valldemossa also attended the scene to support the deceased’s relatives and to assist with the ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the fall.
