A Polish female cyclist died on Wednesday afternoon after falling from her bike on the Sa Calobra road.
The accident occurred shortly before 2.30pm. It would appear that she lost control of her bike and fell some 15 metres.
She was with a group of cyclists who attempted to resuscitate her before the emergency services - paramedics, Fire and Rescue and the Soller Mountain Rescue Group - arrived. She died at the scene.
Witnesses say she veered off the road to the left and then fell onto a rocky area with dense vegetation.
The accident was on a downhill section of the road where cyclists pick up speed before entering a wooded area. There have been serious accidents involving cyclists in this area in the past.
