The National Police report that in an operation with local police on March 25 they prevented the illegal occupation of a property in Manacor.

On that day, there was a call to the National Police emergency line reporting the illegal occupation of a chalet in a rural part of Manacor. When police arrived at the scene, they found the entrance was blocked and had been boarded up with planks. Witnesses told the police these had been put up that morning by a group of unknown individuals.

Officers attempted to speak with the people inside. A man told them that he had been living there for over a month with his uncle's family. He then claimed to have paid someone 3,000 euros to be able to live in the property. No information could be provided about the person to whom this money was supposedly paid.

The owner was contacted by phone. She informed the police that the property belonged to her father and that it was used as a second home at weekends and during the summer. She also stated that the occupation must have been after Sunday, as she had been there on that day; March 25 was a Wednesday.

The police found some mattresses and beds. These indicated that the people in the house were trespassing, as it was only used occasionally as a second home. Four adults and one minor, all Moroccan, were arrested and charged with trespass.
