There was something of a surprise for passers-by and diners at the Mia by Guillermo Cabot restaurant in Portixol yesterday - King Felipe had met up with friends for a lunchtime paella cooked by the owner.
Surprise in happening to see the King, but it wasn't totally a surprise for him to be at one of his favourite restaurants. Nor was it so much of a surprise that he should have been in Mallorca. There was the chance to meet up with his sisters, Cristina and Elena, who have been staying at the Marivent Palace with Sofia, the Queen Mother.
One of the friends at the restaurant was Mallorcan rock musician Jaume Anglada, who has recovered from serious injuries suffered in a road accident in August last year.
The Royal Family used to stay in Mallorca at Easter. This hasn't been the case for several years. The Queen Mother is the one member of the family who does spend Easter on the island. Earlier this week, she attended the concert at the Cathedral in aid of the Projecte Home Balears charity.
