Early on Wednesday morning, a counterterrorism operation was mounted in Palma. Dozens of National Police officers, some from the mainland, were deployed to C. Gabriel Maura. One person has been arrested. A Moroccan national, he is considered to be the leader of a group and was in regular contact with two accomplices in Morocco. It is alleged that he had planned a terrorist attack in Spain.
The Moroccan directorate for territorial surveillance also took part in the operation. There have been two other arrests in Tangier.
The investigation was declared secret by the Audiencia Nacional national court in Madrid.
The operation was led by the General Commissariat for Information and supported by the Balearic Islands Provincial Information Brigade. Officers from the Rapid Response Unit also participated. Police searched at least one property on the street and seized various documents.
From early morning, National Police vans and unmarked cars were stationed near the property that was raided.
