The National Police are currently investigating the theft of a Guardia Civil officer’s service weapon from a car park in Palma. Earlier this week there were several break-ins involving cars parked in the Ponent neighbourhood, between the Ca’n Valero area and Camí de La Vileta.
The thieves smashed windows and forced their way into the vehicles to steal as many valuables as possible from inside the various cars.
Specifically, in a private communal car park belonging to a block of flats in the neighbourhood, a Guardia Civil officer had left his service weapon, consisting of his service pistol and ammunition, inside his vehicle.
The theft has left the officer in a delicate situation; internally, an investigation must be carried out to determine whether he was negligent in any way or whether disciplinary action should be taken.
For the time being, the investigation has not been closed and is continuing in an attempt to ascertain the circumstances in which the robbery took place.
