The 6th edition of the Eco Rallye Mallorca Inca Ciutat, which will take place on 20 and 21 March, is now ready for participating vehicles to take to the island’s roads in an event that combines sport, sustainability and commitment to the environment.

This competition, which counts towards the Spanish Alternative Energy Championship, sees participating teams test their driving skills in order to be as efficient as possible. Consumption and driving regularity are measured on public roads at an average speed of around 50 kilometres per hour. The vehicles used are production hybrid and/or electric cars. Some of the best national and local drivers will be travelling along Mallorca’s roads, with the participation of several well-known figures from Mallorcan society.

The Claustre de Santo Domingo in Inca hosted the presentation of the competition this Friday. The rally will cover more than 300 kilometres, with over 50 per cent of the route passing along roads in the Serra de Tramuntana. The course includes sections of outstanding scenic value, allowing participants to discover some of the island’s most attractive spots.

Safety is also a key element of the event. The organisers have selected roads that offer good grip, two-way traffic and safe driving conditions, enabling drivers to showcase their skills to the fullest in the best possible surroundings.

Connection

The capital of the Raiguer region will serve as the hub of the rally. The event will connect different towns and landscapes across Mallorca, turning the competition into a showcase for the island.

One of the most iconic moments of the Eco Rallye Mallorca is its night stage, which adds difficulty and excitement to the competition. Participants must maintain regularity and energy efficiency even in conditions of reduced visibility, requiring greater concentration and strategy from the teams, as their vehicles have less available energy due to the use of headlights. This format makes the event a true challenge in sustainable mobility, where every detail in driving can make the difference in the final classification.

The competitive nature of the Eco Rallye also highlights the crucial importance placed on sustainable mobility and alternative energy, once again demonstrating their relevance at a time when global events—such as tensions in Iran, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and the resulting rise in fossil fuel prices—underline the need for energy alternatives.

The event also features a wide range of parallel activities, meetings and educational events, bringing the public closer to the new clean technologies in the automotive sector and promoting a model of transport that is more environmentally friendly.

This competition forms part of the eMallorca Experience, a pioneering initiative and benchmark in the field of sustainability. Since its first edition in 2020, its aim has been to promote and accelerate sustainable development by encouraging environmental protection through the efficient use of clean energy and electric mobility, while giving visibility to the products, services and projects contributing to this goal at local, national and international levels.

Throughout the year, around ten activities are organised, targeting different age groups and taking place in the island’s main towns, with the mission of showcasing projects and services focused on environmental protection.

At the same time, the Copa Inca Ciutat will also take place. This event is aimed at amateur drivers, who follow an alternative route to the main competition but still compete to achieve the greatest efficiency. Participants include members of the public, politicians and businesspeople who wish to discover the principles of efficient driving.

A sixth edition that is already a benchmark

The sixth edition of the Eco Rallye Mallorca–Inca Ciutat has become an unmissable event for motorsport and sustainability enthusiasts. The rally attracts a large number of fans who want to see some of the most advanced models in the sector first-hand and also enjoy the wide range of parallel activities that take place during the days of competition.

The winners of the fifth edition of the Eco Rallye Mallorca, in the premier electric category, were Toni Luján and Carles Sasplugas, driving a Renault 5 E-Tech, extending their run of victories from previous editions of a competition they have dominated with authority.
