In January, a former partner of Prince Harry was arrested by the Guardia Civil in Mallorca after allegedly leaving a hotel in Santa Ponsa without paying a bill of more than €500. Mallorca-based interior designer Catherine Ommanney, was said to have stayed at the establishment for nine nights before departing without settling the amount owed. She was later released by a duty judge and within hours of her release she exclusively denied the charges to the Bulletin.
Since her ordeal, which she described as a “nightmare of a day” Cat has been cleared and today she told the Bulletin: “firstly I never committed any crime. I’ve not even had a speeding fine in my life.
The case was quickly dropped against me and even the judge embraced me as she knew what happened to me was actually criminal in itself, once she had been provided with all the documents and information to prove I never broke any law. The bill was paid. I did not leave the hotel not having paid. All complete lies. I don’t even use credit cards!
“The hotel manager apologised too. If I was capable or wanting to commit fraud I’d probably be in a 10 star hotel owing 100’s of thousands!! Not €580! The fact that the Guardia Civil wanted ‘selfies’ with me I said ‘NO CHANCE’ and when I said that, was literally thrown into a cold cell for ten hours, having everything taken off me, jewellery even my shoes, on a concrete floor with blood, urine and excrement on the walls, will definitely scar me for life.
“I’d like to thank my lawyer Anina Martorell Moranta for her fast professional work. To all the fools that believed that, and the haters that loved it, it must be so incredibly frustrating for you?! Sorry. Truth always outs and justice will hopefully always be served.
“It was extremely traumatic, all these people thinking I’m a criminal and looking at me as if I was. It’s damaged my name and my reputation and it will stick with me for life, it’s been a horrible experience and I’m so glad I can now clear my name,” the Real Housewives of DC star said.
Ommanney has previously stated that she had a two-month affair with Prince Harry in 2006, when she was 34 and he was 21. She has also said that they met in a bar in Chelsea and that she did not expect to feature in the prince’s memoir, citing the circumstances of their relationship.
In an interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored in 2022, Catherine Ommanney said the Duke of Sussex seemed like a “different person”. The Real Housewives of DC star told Morgan,“I just don’t know if I actually even recognise him anymore, personality-wise. When I watched him in the show, I thought it’s almost like, and my mother would really hate me for saying this, but it’s almost like she’s (Meghan Markle) got aspell over him. And that’s why I don’t recognise him. He used to be so down to earth and normal and there’s so little of him I actually recognise.”
