Fire breaks out on ferry heading for Palma, 15 people require medical assistance

A fire broke out on a lorry in the hold of the ferry Golden Bridge, which was sailing from Barcelona to Palma. The fire was contained during the crossing and finally extinguished at the port of Palma. The flames did not affect the ship's deck where the passengers were located.

Upon the ship's arrival at the port of Palma, the security measures planned for this type of incident were activated, with coordination between the various administrations and emergency services.

A total of 169 passengers (155 adults, 10 children, and 4 infants) and 46 crew members were travelling aboard the ship.

A total of 15 people required medical assistance: 13 for smoke inhalation, one for diabetic decompensation, and another for a severe headache. Of these, 13 were classified as minor and two as less serious.

In terms of rolling cargo, the ship was carrying 68 trucks and 52 vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, and camper vans.

The disembarkation operation was carried out normally and safely, both for passengers and vehicles.
