Authorities in northern Mallorca are investigating a man accused of defrauding self-employed workers and withholding payment after repair work on a tourist transport boat in Puerto Alcudia. Two of the workers have already filed formal complaints, claiming the man owes them more than €2,000 in total.

Last week, six local workers were hired by a man described as a Romanian national in his 40s, identified by the initials C.D., who promised €10 an hour for their work. One day reportedly involved a continuous 17-hour shift to complete outstanding jobs. When it came to pay, the man allegedly insulted the workers, made threats, and forcibly removed them from the boat, according to a complainant who reported the incident to Palma courts on Tuesday.

One worker claimed the man threatened them with a weapon, saying he had a shotgun nearby and would retrieve it before ejecting them. The total owed across the six workers exceeds €2,000, with individual amounts ranging from €180 to nearly €1,000. Authorities believe there may be further victims. Alcudia police attended the scene but the suspect had already left, and investigations are ongoing to locate him.

Following the incident, one of the workers shared details on social media, prompting others with similar experiences to come forward. Witnesses allege that C.D. collected more than €15,000 for the jobs but failed to pay the workers. One victim added that the man even impersonated a police officer to intimidate them.

Reports suggest C.D. has a history of similar offences and is known to frequent Cala Rajada. He is believed to operate across several northern Mallorca municipalities, including Muro, Petra, Arta, Santa Margalida, and Puerto Alcudia.
