Son Reus opens its heart: 50 rescued dogs ready for adoption in Mallorca

All are now in excellent physical condition and ready to begin a new life

|

The Son Reus Municipal Animal Protection Centre has once again become a symbol of hope for animals. A total of 50 dogs, rescued on 24 February from a property in the municipality of Palma where they were living in extremely poor hygienic and sanitary conditions, have begun a new chapter and are now available for adoption.

The operation was carried out jointly by SEPRONA and technicians from the Conselleria d’Agricultura, Pesca i Medi Natural, after identifying a situation that was incompatible with current animal welfare legislation.

Between 25 and 26 February, the animals were transferred to the municipal facilities, where the veterinary team from Palma City Council implemented a comprehensive care protocol. Each animal underwent a full clinical assessment to determine its health status.

The dogs have been treated for internal and external parasites, vaccinated, microchipped, groomed, and subjected to various diagnostic tests, including rapid leishmaniasis tests and full blood work in cases showing symptoms. Those requiring further monitoring remained under veterinary supervision until their recovery was assured.

They are now looking for a new home

Thanks to this professional and coordinated intervention, all 50 animals are now in excellent physical condition and ready to begin a new life. From Wednesday 4 March, anyone interested can visit the centre to find out more about the responsible adoption process.

The Palma City Council has highlighted the dedication and commitment of the technical and healthcare staff, whose work has been essential in restoring dignity and wellbeing to these dogs.
