Fundación Calvià 365 and El Corte Inglés have signed an official sponsorship agreement to support Calvià’s main sporting events during the 2026 season. This strategic partnership aims to promote sport within the municipality while increasing the visibility of its major competitions on the Balearic Islands.
The deal encompasses three high-profile events: the Galatzó Trail, scheduled for Sunday, 8 March; the Half Marathon Magaluf on 18 April; and the Challenge Peguera Mallorca triathlon, set for 17 October. These events align with Fundación Calvià 365’s strategy to organise sports activities that attract visitors during periods of lower tourism influx.
Juan Antonio Amengual, Mayor of Calvia, commented on the agreement: "Having the backing and recognition of a brand like El Corte Inglés demonstrates the prestige our events have achieved. This collaboration is key to managing the significant organisational and logistical efforts these events require, and it helps us consolidate our aim to reduce seasonality in tourism, attracting visitors through healthy, quality sports leisure during off-peak months."
Antonio Sánchez Grao, Communication and Institutional Relations Director of El Corte Inglés, stated: "We participate in more than one hundred sports activities and events held on the island. We are extending our collaboration to Calvia, a municipality currently leading in the development of tourist and sporting events. It is virtually the centre of culture and sport on the island and, as a company, we want to support institutions that promote the economy, tourism, and sport through innovative activities."
As part of this collaboration, El Corte Inglés will associate its brand reputation and commercial values with these sports events. To facilitate participation, the company will set up a bib collection point at its Palma stores for runners in the Galatzó Trail and Half Marathon Magaluf. Moreover, the brand will feature in official communications, athlete kits, social media, and event photo booths.
