A 32-year-old Ukrainian man has been taken into custody by the National Police after allegedly confining a woman in a hotel room in Maria de la Salut and stealing €3,000 from her, following threats with a taser. The man reportedly met the woman through the dating app Tinder. He now faces charges of robbery with violence and unlawful detention.

The investigation began after the woman, who is in her mid-40s and of Colombian origin, filed a complaint in December. She explained that she had arranged to meet a man she had met online and that they went to a hotel in Maria de la Salut, entering the premises with a code. Once inside, they engaged in sexual activity, and the man allegedly prevented her from leaving the room.

The victim asked to be paid for the encounter, but the man refused. He claimed to have a taser and threatened her to remain in the room for a prolonged period. After several hours, the woman managed to go to the bathroom and called a friend to explain the situation. The man then took her handbag, which contained €3,000 in cash, and fled.

The victim’s friend went to the hotel to find her, and they left the building together. On the street, they encountered the suspect again, and when asked to return the money, he allegedly assaulted the friend before making off with the cash.

Police investigators later identified the suspect, who was initially at large. Following a series of operations, the authorities issued a warrant. Last Monday, officers from the National Police’s Operational Response Group (GOR) found him in Palma and arrested him in connection with the alleged robbery and false imprisonment.
