Calvia is advancing with major public works in Peguera, Santa Ponsa, and Magalluf, targeting completion before the summer season. The projects, including a boulevard revamp, avenue enhancement, and seafront promenade upgrades, are part of a more than 10 million euro investment funded by multiple sources.
Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual emphasised the need to stay on schedule, stating, "We must hurry to meet the established timelines so that everything is ready and finished before summer starts." Alongside Deputy Mayor for Roads and Public Works, Joan Thomás, Amengual inspected the three construction sites, which are intended to improve infrastructure and the tourist experience in these prominent areas.
Thomás noted the projects involved consultation with residents and businesses and were scheduled for the winter months to reduce disruption. The contractors are actively working to ensure deadlines are met, he added.
Revitalising Peguera Boulevard
The first phase of the comprehensive renewal of the Boulevard in Paguera focuses on the section between Torà beach and Gavines Street. This €3.25 million project aims to boost pedestrian movement and commercial activity in one of the area’s key locations.
Enhancements on Avenida Rei en Jaume I, Santa Ponsa
In Santa Ponsa, improvement works on Avenida Rei en Jaume I are scheduled to finish by 31 March. The scheme, with a budget of €4.4 million, involves beautifying the avenue to enhance its appeal both for locals and visitors.
Magalluf promenade second phase upgrade
Magalluf’s notable development includes the second phase of the Gabriel Escarrer Juliá promenade renovation. Covering 1,800 metres of beachfront, the €3 million project focuses on improving access and public space quality for residents and tourists alike. This phase is fully financed through the Sustainable Tourism Tax from the Balearic Government and is expected to conclude by 30 April.
