The Public Prosecutor's Office is requesting ten years imprisonment each for two British tourists who assaulted three individuals using a broken glass inside a restaurant in Palmanova last June. Alongside the prison sentence, the accused are also liable to pay a joint compensation of 15,450 euros to the victims, who sustained various injuries with lasting effects as a result of the incident. The event was captured on the security cameras of the premises, with the trial set to be held at a Criminal Court on Vía Alemania, Palma.

According to the public accusation's provisional conclusions accessed by our sister newspaper Ultima Hora, the incident occurred at approximately 2:00 AM on 22 June 2025. A staff member refused to serve additional drinks to the suspects, aged 34 and 24, after they had been verbally harassing other customers and staff with derogatory remarks and disruptive behaviour.

Following this refusal, an argument escalated, during which both defendants pushed the employee to the floor, causing her to hit her head. She also suffered leg cuts from broken glass found on the floor. A colleague intervening to calm the situation was struck from behind with a glass, rendering him disoriented. Furthermore, a bystander attempting to de-escalate the altercation was hit in the neck by shards of broken glass. Physical struggle ensued, leading to a glass shattering in one attacker’s hand.

The three victims received significant injuries, some classified as serious, stemming from lacerations caused by the broken glass used as a weapon. Due to the harm and lasting consequences, the prosecution seeks over 15,450 euros in damages payable jointly by the accused. The Civil Guard in Calvia arrested the pair shortly thereafter, and they were subsequently remanded in custody charged with attempted homicide.
