Last Friday, the National Police in Palma arrested a 22-year-old Mallorcan man who is wanted by Belgian authorities. He is accused of having committed more than twenty burglaries in Belgium, some of them armed, between September and October 2024, along with three other people, one of whom is also Mallorcan.
He was previously arrested in February 2025 and released by a Madrid court while his extradition was being processed. After this was approved, it was impossible to locate him.
On Friday, he had gone for a drink at a bar in the Es Rafal district of Palma and was spotted by National Police officers. They arrested him and a judge ordered him to be detained. On Tuesday, the Audiencia Nacional national court in Madrid ratified his imprisonment pending extradition in the coming days.
He was part of a four-person criminal organisation along with two Chileans, a man and a woman, and another Mallorcan. The latter was arrested in Switzerland and is in prison in Basel. The gang is believed to have committed a total of 26 burglaries in homes in various parts of Belgium between September and October 2024. On occasions they used weapons.
