Firefighters spent more than three hours battling the blaze before bringing it under control

A yacht was gutted by fire in the early hours of Thursday morning at Club Náutico del Arenal in Llucmajor, Mallorca, prompting a significant emergency response. Firefighters, police and the Guardia Civil worked for more than three hours to bring the flames under control, ensuring no other boats in the marina were affected and confirming that there were no injuries as a result.

According to sources familiar with the incident, the blaze began shortly before 2 am for reasons that remain unclear. Witnesses, alarmed by the "intense flames" coming from the vessel, contacted the emergency number 112. Local police in Llucmajor, the Guardia Civil and multiple fire crews from Bombers de Mallorca responded immediately.

Efforts on site focused on preventing the fire from spreading to neighbouring moored vessels. "The firefighters concentrated on stopping the fire from affecting other boats before they could fully extinguish it," eyewitnesses reported. Their intervention limited damage to just the initial yacht, but the vessel suffered extensive destruction.

The Guardia Civil has launched an investigation to determine how the fire started. While the cause is currently unknown, initial assessments suggest considerable material losses, though fortunately no casualties were sustained. The swift response by emergency teams is credited with averting further damage within the club's marina.
