Palma police this morning issued a warning to car owners after a spate of robberies at Palma airport. Even a car was stolen when a driver left the keys in the car ignition.
A police spokesperson warned never to leave valuable items inside the vehicle in plain sight and also never to leave keys in the ingnition. The warning came after a man was arrested after he was caught red-handed inside a vehicle by police officers.
According to reports he is allegedly responsible for a string of robberies in parked cars at the airport. He is also accused of stealing a car after the owner left the keys in the ignition. The man has been barred from the airport.
Police paid tribute to security guards at the airport and called on travellers to be extra vigilant at all times.
The man accused of the robberies has been taken into custody and will go before a judge in the law courts in Palma.
