It looks like Mallorca is going to be invaded by cruise ships and passengers for this summer’s solar eclipse with all of the main cruise lines having added special cruises for the eclipse and with Mallorca being one of the best places to experience it, Palma has been added to new itineraries.

For example, P&O Cruises has revealed that the Britannia will be at the very centre of this magic. On July 30, 2027, this majestic ship will set sail from Southampton. It carries with it the dreams of travellers eager to witness the 2027 Solar Eclipse from the best seat on Earth.

Viking will also be operating 10 new ocean itineraries in the Mediterranean which will include Palma while TUI is also pushing the boat out which new cruises including Mallorca to coincide with the eclipse. The spotlight on Mallorca will shine even brighter in August 2026, as Spain prepares to host its first total solar eclipse in over a century.

As this rare event approaches, millions of travellers from around the world are expected to visit the island, particularly those seeking the best vantage points to witness the eclipse. Mallorca’s unique position makes it an ideal location for this extraordinary event, elevating its status as a key destination for 2026.

The 2026 total solar eclipse will serve as a major catalyst for growth in Mallorca’s tourism industry. The anticipated increase in visitor numbers will lead to higher demand for a range of services, from luxury accommodations and local tour guides to dining establishments and entertainment options. As a result, Mallorca will see a significant boost in employment opportunities across various sectors, including hospitality, transport, and service industries.

This increase in tourism will highlight Mallorca’s year-round appeal, ensuring the island’s position as a top destination not just for the eclipse but for travellers seeking a range of experiences, including luxury stays, nature tours, and cultural explorations. The surge in visitor demand will create sustained economic growth, ensuring long-term prosperity for local businesses and helping maintain the island’s thriving tourism industry.
