A 40-year-old Colombian man died on Tuesday night after falling several metres from an apartment building in the resort of S'Illot (Manacor).

Around 10.40pm, he went to the apartment where he had continued to live with his ex-partner. He was drunk and the police were apparently looking for him. Neighbours heard an argument and dialled the 112 emergencies line. Manacor and National Police patrols went to the scene, and on arrival they heard a woman shouting for help.

He went up to the roof and entered the adjoining the building. There was then a noise and he was seen lying on the ground; he died almost instantly.

The man lived in the apartment with his ex-partner, with whom he had a child. They had ended their relationship some months ago. Another child from a previous relationship was also in the apartment at the time of the incident.

The National Police Homicide Squad is in charge of the investigation.
