Witnesses have described a paramedic as a "hero" for his actions after a ten-year-old boy fell from the seventh floor of an apartment building in Palma.

On Tuesday, the boy fell some 20 metres and hit the front window of a car on C. General Riera. The paramedic happened to be in the vicinity in his ambulance. He ran towards the boy and held up traffic while calling on his phone for assistance.

One witness has explained: "He never left the boy alone, he was always there for him. He has my admiration and respect. I would like to meet him and thank him. He was a hero without a cape. May God bless him."

The National Police, in charge of the investigation, are seeking to ascertain what happened to make the boy fall. He suffered various fractures, Son Espases Hospital reporting that he is stable and that his condition hasn't worsened since he was admitted to emergencies on Tuesday.
