Seven men and two women, all Moroccan, were released by a Palma court on Friday, having been arrested on Thursday for causing a disturbance on a plane at Palma Airport.
The incident occurred around 8pm. An Air Arabia flight from Rabat to Istanbul had requested an emergency landing due to a medical emergency - a woman had gone into labour.
Everything appeared to be proceeding normally. The woman was taken to a hospital, but several passengers had in the meantime become agitated because of the delay in resuming the flight.
The pilot decided not to take off. Members of the cabin crew were assaulted, and the Guardia Civil were called in. The nine people were arrested. The plane then took off without them.
In court, they exercised their right not to testify and were released, although one of the men had been rearrested because of his behaviour in the courts' cells. Six were due to fly back to Morocco later on Friday. The three others will remain in Spain.
