In December 2023, controversy was caused when an American company, Omaze, announced a draw to win a villa in Selva valued at around €3.5 million. For the winner, there would be an extra cash prize of €290,000.

This was the latest big prize from Omaze, a not-for-profit concern specialising in fundraising for charities. Funds raised from the Selva draw were to be for Alzheimer's research - an estimated one million euros, or the equivalent thereof because the draw was in the UK. This was the controversy. The draw was only open to people living in the UK.

There is now a similar draw only for people in Germany. Traumhausverlosung (Dream House Raffle) is for a property worth around two million euros plus a cash prize of 150,000 euros. The organisers have not said exactly where the property is, only that it is in the Pla (Plain) region of Mallorca. As with the Omaze draw, funds are for charity, in this instance DKMS. Founded in Germany in 1991, DKMS is the worldwide charity for blood cancer awareness and stem cell transplants.

The organisers says that for "legal requirements we cannot circumvent, we can only raffle off the beautiful dream house in Mallorca to people who reside in Germany". Lottery ticket packages cost €10, €25, and €35.

The dream house comprises 230 square metres of "holiday paradise" with a swimming pool, three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The raffle will take place on February 2, 2026.
