Palma Town Hall says three shops on the Paseo Marítimo have been fined for selling alcohol outside of permitted hours.
At the beginning of October, after receiving a complaint from the local residents' association, Palma Police inspected these minimarkets. The shops were found to have violated the bylaw governing the sale of alcohol. Two of the shops were among those that the association had brought to the town hall's attention. One of the three had been fined in August, also for selling alcohol outside permitted hours.
Each of the shops was fined 1,000 euros. The range of fines for this offence is 750 to 1,500 euros.
The town hall adds: "We will continue to act firmly to guarantee compliance with municipal ordinance and protect the peace and quiet of residents. The police carry out continuous monitoring, which has been increased in terms of operations and interventions this summer, some of them in cooperation with the Balearic Ports Authority, to ensure peaceful coexistence and compliance with regulations."
A total of 52 violation notices were issued over the summer to various establishments on the Paseo Marítimo for breaches of bylaws.
