The Council of Mallorca has confirmed the removal of more than 2,300 tourist rental listings hosted on the Airbnb platform that do not have a registration number. These are the first results of the second phase of the agreement signed weeks ago, which is leading to the removal of thousands of irregular listings from the website, as announced by both parties last month in Ibiza.

These removals represent a decisive step in the collaboration to combat illegal tourist rentals on the island, with the added bonus that Airbnb remains committed to continuing to deactivate any listings that do not include the mandatory registration number issued by the Council of Mallorca.

Airbnb is thus complying with the agreement reached with the Council of Mallorca and has deactivated more than 2,300 listings on its platform that did not display the registration number, representing a firm and unprecedented action to ensure that online tourist offerings operate legally and are compatible with the protection of the territory and the quality of life of residents.

The Minister of Tourism, José Marcial Rodríguez, has expressed his satisfaction and commitment to the fight against illegal offerings and has assured that ‘this is the definitive step towards eradicating them, there will be no truce.

This agreement with Airbnb is already bearing fruit and demonstrates that public-private collaboration is the way to protect our tourism model, ensure compliance with regulations and continue to strengthen the quality of life of all residents of Mallorca.’ ‘The removal of unlicensed listings is a decisive action that reinforces our goal of promoting coexistence on our island, for the benefit of the local community and all users of the platform,’ added Rodríguez.
