A person was injured on Wednesday following a two-vehicle collision in Palma, during which a car overturned at the junction of Almirante Oquendo and Roger de Llúria streets. The incident occurred at around 5.30pm local time, causing significant disruption to traffic in the area.
According to reports, the collision involved a rental Seat Ibiza carrying four Polish tourists and a BMW X1 driven by a mother accompanied by her young child. It appears that the Seat Ibiza failed to yield at the intersection, colliding with the BMW. The force of the impact caused the BMW to overturn and strike a parked vehicle before finally coming to rest against the façade of a nearby residential building.
Residents in the vicinity quickly raised the alarm, prompting an immediate response from Palma Local Police, an ambulance from the Juaneda clinic, and a cleaning crew from Emaya. Fortunately, all those involved were able to exit their vehicles without assistance before emergency teams arrived on the scene.
One of the tourists sustained a minor cut to the hand and was treated at the scene but declined to be taken to hospital. The mother and her child were also assessed by medical personnel and were found to have escaped with no serious injuries. The damaged vehicles were later removed to allow traffic to resume.
The Palma Local Police have taken charge of the investigation and compiled an official accident report. A municipal tow truck cleared the the junction.
