A group of hikers discovered a decomposed body on Sunday while exploring a small beach house in Santa Margalida, Mallorca. The young walkers alerted the authorities after finding the remains in an advanced state of decay inside a hut on Son Baulo Beach, in Can Picafort.
The discovery was made in the afternoon, around 3pm, when the group entered the building and came across the body. They initially contacted the Santa Margalida local police, but the difficult access for standard vehicles meant the Civil Guard was called to the scene.
The Civil Guard reached the hut using an all-terrain vehicle and a helicopter. Officers conducted a visual inspection and reported no obvious signs of violence on the corpse.
Investigators estimate the death occurred around six months ago, explaining the advanced stage of decomposition. The body was officially recovered later that evening, at approximately 7pm.
The Civil Guard’s Judicial Police Unit has taken over the investigation, which remains ongoing. Authorities have not yet released further information regarding the identity of the deceased.
