The National Police were forced to close the street outside the Provincial Headquarters after a specially trained dog signalled a suspicious car parked in front of the Simó Ballester offices. It ultimately turned out to be a false alarm. The vehicle contained chemical substances.
The street was closed to both traffic and pedestrians, and some residents were evacuated from their homes. The incident mobilised around fifty officers, including the bomb disposal unit (Tedax).
The event took place at around 10.30am on Friday. During a routine police dog check, one of the dogs alerted to a vehicle parked outside the Headquarters. Following protocol, the street was closed while the necessary inspections were carried out. Within minutes, hundreds of residents and onlookers had gathered nearby.
Shortly after 11.30am, officers from the Subsoil Unit and the Tedax confirmed that the dog had detected chemical substances in the vehicle, rather than explosives. Residents were then allowed to return to their homes, and the street was reopened to both traffic and pedestrians.
