A body has been found floating in the waters off Ibiza, after a sailing boat made the grim discovery at around 4.30pm on Tuesday. The vessel was sailing about two miles from Talamanca Bay when the remains were spotted, according to reports from Periódico de Ibiza y Formentera.
Spain’s Civil Guard confirmed that the corpse was recovered and brought ashore by Maritime Rescue teams. The body was said to be in an advanced state of decomposition when it was transferred to the port of Ibiza.
The Civil Guard’s judicial police have launched an investigation to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the death. Authorities have not yet released further details pending the outcome of the inquiry.
