El Corte Inglés is taking its support for breast cancer research further with a new campaign to fund a project led by Dr Julio Delgado at Hospital Clínic in Barcelona, in collaboration with Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid and the University of Navarra. In partnership with the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), the company committed €1 million over five years in 2023 to support the development of a personalised cell therapy drug.

The current project is a Phase I clinical trial evaluating the safety and effectiveness of ARI-HER2+ cells in treating HER2+ breast cancer. This marks the fifth breast cancer research project fully funded by El Corte Inglés.

To coincide with World Breast Cancer Day on 19 October, El Corte Inglés will launch a range of awareness initiatives throughout October. These include distributing pink ribbons, special store lighting, charitable product sales, and prevention talks for employees.

From October 2 to 19, customers can purchase a wide selection of charitable items in-store, online, and via the app, with all proceeds supporting the latest personalised therapy research project. Products include water bottles, scented candles, mugs, notebooks, thermal cups, bracelets, and crystal glasses.

From October 10 to 19, the El Corte Inglés in Avenidas store will light up in pink to show support.

The women’s fashion department will donate €1 from selected brand items sold on October 18 and 19, with participating brands including Woman El Corte Inglés, Couchel, Tintoretto, Latouche, Énfasis, Green Coast, Easy Wear, and Sfera. Accessories brands, such as Guess, Tous, and Lola Casademunt, will also donate €1 per item, while Latouche will contribute 10% of suitcase sales.

In homeware, 15% of sales from selected items—including plates, glasses, salad bowls, candles, and floral diffusers—will go to the research project, while selected home textiles will contribute €1 per item. Furniture and décor will donate 5% of sales from selected items, and footwear brands such as Skechers, Pepe Jeans, Victoria, and Lacoste will contribute 20%.

The Lingerie and Corsetry department will donate €1 per bra sold on October 18 and 19, and sports brands including Boomerang and Mountain Pro will do the same for clothing and footwear. Supermarkets will sell special reusable bags, with all proceeds supporting the project, and Mattel will donate 10% of Barbie doll sales in-store to AECC. Travel bookings through Grupo Viajes El Corte Inglés between 3 and 20 October will also contribute €1 per booking.
