The Governing Board has approved the installation of an integrated video surveillance system in Plaza España and Parc de Ses Estacions, two of the busiest areas in the city. The maximum budget for the project is €138,718 (VAT included), with a two-month timeline for completion.

The state-of-the-art system will feature 13 cameras equipped with advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and video analytics, along with all necessary protection and mounting equipment. The contract also covers a recording system and 13 licences for AI-powered video analysis.

Public safety is a top priority for this administration,” said municipal spokesperson Mercedes Celeste. “This commitment is reflected in initiatives such as the Drone Unit and the ECOP, the new civic ordinance, and the creation of additional Local Police positions during this term.” She also highlighted that a fixed patrol already operates in Plaza España, which will now be complemented by the new surveillance system.

Investment in police equipment

In addition, the Governing Board approved contracts under Lot 2 of the Framework Agreement of the Federation of Local Authorities of the Balearic Islands (FELIB) for the provision of Local Police uniform accessories.

The procurement will equip new officers joining the force and renew essential gear to support policing and public safety operations. The contracts were awarded to three specialised companies: Rebis Equipaciones Integrales SLU, supplying extendable batons with holsters; Insigna Uniformes SL, providing semi-rigid batons; and Satara Seguridad SL, supplying defensive sprays and handcuffs. The total investment will amount to €101,120.
