Hoteliers have launched a scathing attack on the Llucmajor council over the rubbish collection service which they claim has left bins overflowing which is also a danger to public health. This latest attack comes after the council failed to organise the sun-bed service on local beaches.
"For months, the Playa de Palma Hoteliers Association (AHPP) has been calling on Llucmajor Town Council to improve urban cleaning and rubbish collection services to prevent what is happening now from occurring."
In the words of its president, Pedro Marín, "they have been telling us for months that the situation was complicated due to two lorries breaking down, but this is absolute neglect and laziness. He adds: "The Llucmajor City Council has received constant complaints from us regarding poor maintenance of cleanliness in the s'Arenal de Llucmajor area and the deficient waste collection problem. We cannot believe that they have allowed the situation to reach this point. After leaving the beach without services for the entire season, now this. Are they trying to destroy the area and tourism?"
