Three people suffered smoke inhalation, one of them a Guardia Civil officer, after a fire broke out in an Irish bar in Santa Ponsa. A Calvia Local Police Public Safety officer and a Guardia Civil officer entered one of the flats and rescued a semi-conscious woman.
The fire, which forced the evacuation of 24 flats in the building above, destroyed the premises, which were closed to the public. The fire started at around 9.30 a.m. apparently due to a short circuit in an illuminated sign at Rebel’s Bar, located at 31 Ramon de Montcada Street. The Calvia Local Police received the fire alert and rushed to the scene.
Officers evacuated the 24 flats located above the premises. The dense column of smoke caused three people to be injured. Three fire crews took charge of extinguishing the flames, which caused serious damage to the interior of the bar. The health services treated the three people who suffered smoke inhalation. Calvia Guardia Civil also attended the scene and took charge of the investigation into the fire.
