Three killed in road accidents in 48 hours in Mallorca

Two happened on to the Palma Manacor road

Growing death toll

Mallorca is in mourning after the death of three men in less than 48 hours in traffic accidents. The tragic toll of recent days leaves two men dead between Tuesday morning and early Thursday morning on Camí de Sa Síquia, a blackspot known for its dangerousness, while on Tuesday night island roads claimed another life in Capdepera.

Although the situation has never been so tragic, Camí de Sa Síquia, which forms part of the MA-5013, (Palma to Manacor) has seen many other accidents due to its dangerous junctions, poor visibility at some turns, and the false sense of security that the road gives, which causes vehicles to drive at higher speeds.

The first fatal accident of this black week occurred early on Tuesday morning, when at around 6.40 a.m. a 28-year-old man driving on the Camí de Sa Siquia crashed his car into the back of a lorry and died instantly.

The incident caused great shock in Algaida, as the victim was a young and well-known person who leaves behind a wife and two young children.

The second involved a 37-year-old man whose vehicle was in a collision with a van. In addition to these two deaths at the accident black spot on Camí de Sa Síquia, another motorcyclist, aged 49, died on Tuesday night in Capdepera after an accident between his Yamaha and a quad bike.
