Early on Wednesday, the Guardia Civil and National Police launched another operation linked to recent high-profile arrests for drugs trafficking and money laundering.

There were raids in different parts of Palma - Corea, Es Rafal, La Soledat and Virgen de Lluc - as well as in Llucmajor and Manacor. Five people are so far known to have been arrested.

These raids follow an operation last Friday. Seventeen arrests were made after the Guardia Civil and National Police raided addresses in Palma, Llucmajor, Marratxi and Soller and also acted in the Son Banya shanty town in Palma. Three of those arrested were remanded in custody following court appearances in Palma on Sunday.

All of this stems from an operation on August 11. The alleged leaders of a criminal organisation dedicated to drugs trafficking and money laundering were arrested - Stefan Milojevic of the United Tribuns biker group and a lawyer, Gonzalo Márquez. A National Police inspector, Faustino Nogales, was also arrested. All three were ordered to prison, charged with differing offences.

A Son Banya association is said to be that Milojevic has been supplying drugs clans in the shanty town.
