When the Cunard super liner, Queen Victoria, visits the port of Palma this Saturday she will bring the curtain down on the great British cruising season which appears to have ended earlier than usual.

The majority of Britain´s great liners have come to Palma this summer including the P&O giant, Arvia, which is expected to pay her last visit to Palma this week.

Arvia is known as the "Sunshine Ship" and is designed for warm climates, featuring a retractable-roof Sky Dome, a high ropes course, a mini-golf course, the first rum distillery at sea, and new dining venues. It accommodates up to 5,200 passengers and 1,800 crew, offering a wide range of bars, restaurants, and entertainment options. She is Britain´s biggest cruise ship.

The Queen Victoria, is 964 feet in length, and offers worldwide itineraries. Passengers can enjoy numerous amenities, including a theatre, library, spa, and multiple dining options, all within a sophisticated, British-themed environment with a required dress code for evening events.

The Balearic government controversially limits the number of cruise ships which can visit the port of Palma, with a maximum of three on a daily basis. This has split public opinion and has caused the Palma business community to complain of a lack of trade.

On previous years the big British liners would moor up in Mallorca well into September but this year it doesn´t appear to be the case.
