The Guardia Civil, as part of “Operation Lezo Ball”, has arrested a British citizen in Ibiza for his alleged involvement in crimes of robbery with violence in establishments and vehicle theft. According to information provided by the Guardia Civil on Thursday, the operation began after the theft of a van on 14 July in the Montecristo industrial estate.

The investigation led officers to focus their inquiries on a group of British citizens staying in Sant Antoni, who had travelled to the island with the aim of apparently committing burglaries in homes and commercial premises. On 9 August, Guardia Civil officers located an abandoned and partially burnt-out vehicle with British number plates, possibly in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Investigations confirmed that the car had been stolen in the United Kingdom and used in Ibiza with fake number plates to move around and commit crimes. It was also found that the same gang had apparently carried out a robbery at a luxury goods store in Marina Botafoch, using the stolen van as logistical support to store and transport the stolen goods.

The rapid intervention allowed the Sant Josep Local Police to recover the van with numerous stolen items inside, valued at around 100,000 euros. As a result of this operation, the Guard Civil has managed to end the activity of a criminal organisation specialising in theft using stolen vehicles as a means of carrying out their crimes.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Local Police of Sant Antoni de Portmany and Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, who provided a tow truck and storage for the vehicle, as well as handing over the seized belongings. The investigation remains open with the aim of clarifying other possible crimes committed by the same organisation on the island.
