The Guardia Civil and the Maritime Safety Agency are continuing an intensive search for three people from a small boat that capsized on Wednesday off the south of Mallorca. The three are believed to have attempted to swim to the shore.
One person died and nineteen others were rescued.
Around 10.30am, a private boat rescued a migrant who was in the water. He was taken to Portopetro (Santanyi) and informed the authorities that he had been on a boat with over 20 people.
An air and sea rescue was launched, and the boat was located at 1.55pm, three miles south of Mallorca. One person was dead and eleven others were rescued.
Seven more people were rescued in different areas, two of them by a private boat. All were taken to Portocolom except for two who were flown to Palma by helicopter. Three people were taken to Manacor and Son Espases hospitals in serious conditions.
