The Balearic Islands’ Ministry of Tourism has approved 6.2 million euros in advance grants for eight local councils, aimed at supporting projects in mobility, accessibility, and heritage. The funding comes under the European Next Generation EU programme.
The grants will benefit Binissalem, Banyalbufar, Porreres, Santa Eulària des Riu, Maria de la Salut, Es Castell, Felanitx, and Santa Margalida. All projects are expected to be completed by 31 December 2025, with councils required to submit supporting documentation by 23 January 2026.
Binissalem is set to receive 191,462€ to complete the 2.5€ million Casal Cultural Socio-Turístic Can Marc. Banyalbufar will be allocated 5,263€ to install a public drinking fountain, while Porreres will receive 587,479€ to develop a civic-cultural hub and improve sustainable mobility.
In Maria de la Salut, 635,418€ has been earmarked to purchase land for a car park next to the Sa Font sports centre, and Felanitx will benefit from 437,225€ to build a public car park in the town centre. Santa Margalida will receive the largest allocation, 2.42€ million, to acquire a property for tourism development projects. All grants are released as full advance payments, with no guarantees required.
The Government has stressed that the funding underlines its commitment to “a more resilient, balanced, and sustainable tourism model,” with the potential to transform local areas and enhance public services across the islands.
