Formentera's Fire Brigade has taken immediate action at Es Copinar area, adjacent to Hotel Riu La Mola, following reports of concerning fissures in the rocky outcrops surrounding the beach access point.

The alert, initially raised by the Council's lifeguard team, prompted the deployment of a response unit comprising two firefighters, who arrived at the scene with a pickup truck and a multi-purpose van, fully equipped with signage and cordoning materials.

The emergency response team has implemented safety measures by installing rope barriers and warning signs to prohibit access to the areas deemed at risk of rockfall. This swift action demonstrates the fire service's commitment to public safety during the peak summer season.

The intervention forms part of Formentera Fire Brigade's rapid response protocol, specifically designed to protect both residents and the natural environment in high-footfall summer locations. The Council's emergency services have emphasised the critical importance of respecting the newly installed warning signs and avoiding restricted areas.

Local authorities have established these preventive controls to ensure visitor safety at one of the island's most popular coastal spots. The Formentera Council and Fire Service continue to monitor the situation, maintaining their commitment to public safety through proactive risk management and swift response to potential hazards.
