A 75-year-old Spanish man drowned on Wednesday at Ciudad Jardín beach in Palma.
Around 8pm, and so after lifeguards had finished for the day, a number of people saw a body floating in the sea. The emergency services were called, and paramedics spent a long time attempting to resuscitate him. They were unable to save him.
An autopsy will determine the cause of death.
The National Police are in charge of the case.
