Train derails in Mallorca: No injuries, but island-wide delays reported

Not the first derailment incident on the island this month

|

A train experienced a derailment near the Marratxi station on Wednesday morning, with no injuries reported amongst passengers or staff.

Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM), the island's railway operator, confirmed via social media that the incident involved "a slight derailment of one wheel on the train's bogie". The railway company swiftly arranged for all passengers to be transferred to another unit to continue their journey.

In a separate incident on the same morning, the railway network faced additional disruption due to an overhead power line issue, which has since been fixed. However, the combined incidents have led to delays across all services.

SFM officials have stated they're "working diligently to restore normal service as quickly as possible" across the affected routes. The railway operator continues to monitor the situation and implement necessary safety protocols.

Passengers are advised to check the latest service information through official SFM channels. The company is maintaining regular communication about service alterations and expected recovery times through their social media platforms.
