The Guardia Civil report having arrested a 20-year-old man accused of setting fire to a Cala Millor restaurant. A former employee, he is alleged to have caused an estimated 300,000 euros' worth of damage. The bar and kitchen were gutted and equipment was badly affected.

The fire broke out around 2am on August 30, 2024 and created a serious situation. Thirty people had to be evacuated from adjacent residential buildings as well as some people who were sleeping in the basement. One of them was injured.

Suspicion fell on a former employee who fled to Poland soon after the fire. The investigation remained open, and last week the 20-year-old returned to Mallorca. Officers located him and he was arrested.

He made a court appearance and was released pending a further hearing.
