Meghan Markle has placed a small Mallorca town at the centre of an international royal row after it appeared that her new logo is similar to the centuries old coat of arms of the town of Porreres. It was claimed that the Duchess of Sussex could have copyright issues. The new logo came as the Duchess of Sussex launched her new brand, As Ever, with a logo which appears more Porreres than Los Angeles! Both have a palm tree and two birds.
A Porreres council spokesperson said that they would be meeting with their legal advisors to decide whether to take any action. They are unaware how Meghan discovered their coat of arms....if she ever did. Apart from complaints from some residents the council underlined the fantastic promotion the story was giving the area.
The town is known for its apricots and its agricultural industry and residents say that it is a great place to live.
Meghan took to social media to announce her new project: "Some of you may have heard whispers about what I’ve been creating. In two weeks, my series on @netflix launches — but there’s something else I’ve been working on. I’m thrilled to introduce you to As Ever — a brand that I created and have poured my heart into. ‘As ever’ means ‘as it’s always been’ or some even say ‘in the same way as always’. If you’ve followed along since my days of creating The Tig, you’ll know this couldn’t be truer for me.
"This new chapter is an extension of what has always been my love language, beautifully weaving together everything I cherish — food, gardening, entertaining, thoughtful living, and finding joy in the everyday. I will keep sharing behind the scenes tidbits with you here as we ramp up to launch, and I can’t wait for you to get your hands on everything we’ve been creating. Sending lots of love…As ever,
Meghan..."
Meghan Markle has never visited Mallorca (let alone Porreres!) but her husband, Prince Harry has been a frequent visitor over the years. Before her marriage she travelled to Ibiza with friends.
