The Partido Popular won the European elections in Spain on Sunday with 34.2% of the vote and 22 seats in the European Parliament; Spain supplies 61 MEPs. The PP increased their number of seats by nine. Also on the right, Vox increased their representation by two - from four to six.
For Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's PSOE, there was the loss of one seat - down to 20 - while the split further to the left led to Podemos losing four seats (down to two) and Yolanda Díaz's Sumar entering the European Parliament with three seats.
Also with three are Se Acabó la Fiesta (The Party is Over), a group led by Alvise Pérez, who once worked for Ciudadanos. The Cs were wiped out, losing all eight of their seats.
For the Balearics, Rosa Estaràs, who was seventh on the PP's national list of candidates, will be a member of the European Parliament for the fourth time. The PP secured 35.8% of the Balearic vote, an increase of 14.6%. PSOE lost nearly 30,000 votes compared with 2019. Vox rose to 11.2% of the vote and Se Acabó la Fiesta achieved 5.35%.
