The Palma city council have announced plans to tackle boozy bad behaviour and crime on the beaches of Playa de Palma (Arenal and Can Pastilla) with floodlights. The beaches will be lit up at night in an effort to curb boozy beach parties and crime.
The move has been welcomed by the local community after dozens of complaints about beach parties and bad behaviour at night along the beaches. In fact, it is reported that hundreds of young Germans head to the resorts for "party weekends" and sleep on the beach rather than staying in a hotel.
It is all part of a crackdown launched by the city council against bad behaviour in Arenal and Can Pastilla during the summer months.
The Calvia council recently announced that they would be keeping the beaches in their resorts open throughout the year.
