Marks & Spencer have caused an outcry in Spain with their chorizo paella croquetas which are available to buy in their stores. Hugh Elliot, the British ambassador to Spain, responded to a post on X about the new product stating: “Chorizo, yes! Paella, yes! Croquetas, yes! Yes! All together? …. M&S, what have you done?”
According to The Independent in an X post that has been viewed over 50,000 times, a Madrid based Briton shared a picture of the snack captioned “NO NO NO”.
Tesco already caused an outcry when they launched their paella sandwich and even the Guardia Civil got involved saying that it was in the worst possible taste!
The croquetas are following the same path with thousands of Spaniards taking to social media to protest. The dish is available to buy on Ocado for £5.50, making them worth just over 90p a piece.
